A Candid Portrait
The old and shy gentleman in the picture below is my grandpa's barber in a small town in western India. I just told him that I was about to take a picture of him and clicked! He did not get a chance to say Yes or No, and I think I captured a genuine moment of Surprize!

What a marvellous portrait! Informal and natural - which portraits often struggle to be. Have recently moved from compact to SLR cameras plus hubby bought a Canon Powershot A80 with lots of manual options, so your site is great for someone like me who is still getting the hang of apertures & shutter speeds! Keep up the good work!
Good picture! I like the richness of detail, the surprised and genuine expression, and how the door frames the barber. It's too bad that the wires were there, but it's a minor blemish in a quick candid shot. Bravo! I found you by the way in doing a google search on f-stops - I have been a photographer for more than 30 years and am teaching a digital photography class, and wanted to see if there were some clever ideas I could leverage to teach the concept.
